Ever feel like you're falling behind, like everyone else is inspired and achieving far more while you're only just dipping your toe into the pool of success?
Okay, so maybe you don't think of it quite like that. But maybe there was a time where you knew that, if you had done a bit more here or just spent a little more time there, you could've gone further. Gotten one step ahead of the pack.

Now that the club meeting/pity party is over, I can move on to the crux of the matter.
Essentially, I sometimes feel like I need to be running just to catch up with other people. And really?

So what is needed to "catch up", to hurdle all of the obstacles?
In my opinion?
Personal drive. Resolve. Not just saying you're going to be better, but being better.
You have to push yourself to reach your own goals and timelines, stay on top of things, and separate the reasonable goals from the irrational. I know for a fact that I love to make long lists that end up being too intimidating to follow and too elaborate to achieve in the time I allot.
STAHP. Stop making yourself (myself? Yourself?) accountable for such lofty lists! Pare it down!
Focus on what you actually can get done for the day, for the week, for the break, and then DO IT.
And certainly computers can get in the way. It's convenient that I should be rewatching The Social Network while I do this, because Facebook can vacuum up your time and leave you with a faux feeling of fulfillment. Social networking is amazing! It's a sign of our technological progress! But you'll only get so far by liking cute videos of cats in Christmas trees and posting pictures of the priceless moments that you won't remember unless you show them to other people.
Sorry. That was a bit...cynical? Sarcastic? Like reading a book, sometimes you watch a movie and all of a sudden you take on the tone of the protagonist.
The point is, things aren't going to get done if you just keep talking about them.

But EAT, isn't that what you're doing right now? This is a preeeetty long chunk of text.
Yeah, but for me, this whole blog is on my check list! Just typing it is achieving one of my goals!
That sounds like a cop-out.
And you sound like an overused literary device.
Touché.
Anyways, check back in later for the completion of the Week of Whats and a sneak peek on what's coming!
'Til then...
